Pianist Gary Graffman: Left-Handed Miracles →
Fred Child writes a great piece for NPR on Gary Graffman, a pianist who only uses his left hand. Many years ago, Graffman lost the use of his right hand. Though he went on playing as if he still had both. NPR provides a Graffman concert to stream.

1. When James Allen sings, he sounds Scottish. Why is it that so many foreign singers drop their accents and sound American when they sing? Glasvegas’ identity is clearly tied to their Scottish roots. From Jesus and Mary Chain to Belle & Sebastian, Glasvegas invoke this heritage on the album.

Dr. Dog, a seemingly humble 5-piece band from Philadelphia, unleashed a sonorous roar on Webster Hall last night. Of all the bands I’ve seen play Webster Hall, Dr. Dog easily sounded the best. Their three-part harmonies filled the room and their duel-guitar work rivalled any band touring this planet.
