More often than not, the vocals are in Hebrew. The band plays Afropop. And they’re from L.A. It all sounds strange, but it’s one of the best new albums I’ve heard in a long time. Do yourself a favor going into the New Year and buy this album.

This post marks the second noteworthy artist from Nova Scotia. Between Wintersleep and Meaghan Smith, it would seem Halifax is a budding music scene. Philip Glass also spends a lot of time in Nova Scotia. Music is born in unsuspecting places. Strange, but true.
Like Animal Collective or The Field, Fuck Buttons craft sonic landscapes with texture and seriality. Their music is a cyclical exploration rather than linear. “Surf Solar” is a long track, but worth the time.
